“Jazz Giants” - The Elkin Big Band at The Reeves Theater

Our summer show theme is “Jazz Giants”. We will feature some of the legends of American jazz, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, and Freddie Hubbard just to name a few. We will also feature Jack Stamp on vibraphone. Dr. Stamp is an awarding-winning composer of American concert band music. This is our most challenging program of the year. Come out and enjoy an evening of big band jazz in the historic Reeves Theater.

“Jazz Giants” - The Elkin Big Band at The Andy Griffith Playhouse

Our summer show theme is “Jazz Giants”. We will feature many of the legends of American jazz - Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, and Freddie Hubbard just to name a few. This is our most challenging program of the year. EBB regulars report that this is the "fan favorite". The set list skews towards instrumentals with syncopated, highly mobile horn lines enhanced by spicy solos from Mike Weddington on trumpet, Dave Hoffman on trombone, Rick Jasper on alto sax and Bill Hardin on tenor sax. Teresa sings some of the best vocal classics. This is an uptempo, wide-open show with a host of the absolutely foundational jazz classics spanning 50 years. Come out and enjoy an evening of spectacular big band jazz in the historic Andy Griffith Playhouse.

“Hollywood Hits” - The Elkin Big Band at The Andy Griffith Playhouse

One of the most popular shows of the season, our “Hollywood Hits'“ show features charts from movie soundtracks, Broadway and TV theme songs - think Mission Impossible, Sanford & Son, MASH, Sesame Street. Everyone knows these songs and hearing them will bring back fond memories. Always a crowd favorite, we augment this program annually with new songs. This is a really great show for newcomers and for young musicians who have never seen the EBB before as so much of the setlist is easily recognizable. This is also a show skewed towards uptempo so be prepared for some toe-tapping and a more than a few "woohoos". Get your spring fully operational with an evening of big band jazz at the Andy Griffith Playhouse, right here in downtown Mt. Airy.

“Big Band Christmas Classics” - The Elkin Big Band at The Andy Griffith Playhouse

Our Christmas performance, "Big Band Christmas Classics", is our most sought after ticket of the season. The Christmas shows have sold out for the past two years. We play practically every seasonal tune from traditional carols to holiday jazz classics as well as many movie and TV soundtracks. Get your Frosty, Rudolph, Linus & Lucy thing going on! This music is perfectly suited for the big band and Teresa Jasper does a great job singing all of your favorites. Get your tickets early and often for family and friends. This unique event will be one that everyone will enjoy. Grace Clinic Valentine's Gala featuring the Elkin Big Band

Grace Clinic’s big Valentine’s Gala is back! All proceeds from this event support the important mission of the clinic to provide free or low-cost medical care to the underserved in our community. Tickets are always tight for this typically sold out event so get yours early! Call the clinic at 336.835.1467 to purchase tickets. The gala is always fantastic with fine food and a cash bar in the beautiful Coley Hall at The Liberty. The venue is perfectly suited for the big band. Should be an evening to remember and all proceeds benefit the Grace Clinic.
